WARNING: Tuning tips from any other brand of nitrous kit will not work with Nitrous Express-Next Generation Technology!   We do have Conversion Kits available to allow you to use these tuning tips.

Nitrous oxide works well with all applications; 4 cycle, 2 cycle,  diesel (check-out the NEW NXd diesel systems!) and rotary engines.  Each one has individual characteristics, and these tips apply generally to each one.  Nitrous-oxide (n2o) is referred to as "liquid super-charging".  The biggest enemy of all super-charged, turbo-charged and nitrous injected engines is "detonation", because of the extra cylinder pressure created, "detonation" is a spark plug, head gasket and engine "killer".

Your engine should be tuned to it's maximum power prior to using nitrous.
Your ignition system must be able to ignite the mixture in order to take advantage of the increased cylinder pressure.  A stock ignition will work only with small power increases.  To upgrade your ignition to the proper level, contact Customer Support: Call 832-274-8821 Today !!!
Spark plugs must be 2 to 3 steps colder than stock.  Do not use projected tip plugs; these plugs will not transfer heat to the cylinder fast enough.  When in doubt always go one step colder, running a spark plug that is too "hot" will cause detonation, burned spark plugs and poor performance.  Platinum spark plugs, while very durable, are NOT compatible with nitrous use and can cause intake manifold "backfires".
Our nitrous systems are so advanced (technology, engineering and workmanship), that huge amounts of "timing retard" is not required.  You may run as much timing as you normally would, if you have the octane required to prevent detonation.  WARNING: Retarded timing in an internal combustion engine causes increased cylinder temperatures, engine over-heating and an over rich fuel condition.  These actions, singly or together, can cause head gasket failure, spark plug damage, crushed ring lands, bearing damage and other numerous engine horrors!
Make sure your fuel system is in proper working condition and will deliver an adequate fuel supply.  Contact Customer Support:  Call 832-274-8821 Today !!!
Engine operating temperature should be between 160 and 200 degrees, prior to activation of the nitrous system.
Never "lug" your engine and hit the nitrous; use your nitrous at wide-open throttle (WOT) only; never use your nitrous system below 2000rpm.  If you do any of the above, a serious "backfire" condition could result in engine damage.
The better your headers and exhaust system, the better your nitrous system will perform.
While nitrous will work with any cam, there are certain parameters of cam design that will enhance the overall performance of your engine on nitrous.  Contact Customer Support: Call 832-274-8821 Today !!!
Do not attempt to drill or alter the jets, solenoids or tubes in the nitrous plate!  These items are engineered to their maximum capability.  Any modifications you make will decrease power, damage engine parts and void your warranty!
Do not mix or attempt to match other brand solenoids with our systems!  Do not mix or attempt to match any other brand plate(s), nozzle(s) or jet(s) with our systems!  Do not attempt to use any other brand of nitrous kit as a second stage or first stage with our systems!  Our nitrous technology is far superior to any of our competitors!  Any attempt at this could lead to serious engine damage...and void your warranty!
All of our systems are designed to operate at 900 to 1050 psi bottle pressure.  This is extremely important, and can not be stressed enough.  If your bottle pressure is below 900 psi, your system will run rich and will not produce  the advertised horsepower.  If the bottle pressure is above 1050 psi, your system will run too lean and could cause engine damage.  This pressure can be easily monitored with our bottle pressure gauge (#15509). NOTE: Anytime the ambient air temperature falls below 85 degrees, a bottle heater (#15940) is required.  In very hot weather a wet chamois or towel may be placed over the bottle to reduce pressure.
A purge valve (#15600) is recommended on all our systems.   When hot weather begins, a purge valve is worth about 1/10th of a second on a 1/4 mile pass.  NOTE: The correct purge procedure for drag racing, a) Complete your burn-out. b) Light the pre-stage bulb. c) Activate the purge button three times, one second each. d) Stage immediately and GO FAST!
If there is a question about the purity (possible trash) of your nitrous supply, a filter (#15610) should be used when refilling your nitrous bottle.  Just attach this filter to your bottle when you take it in for a refill.  Contaminated nitrous will cause serious damage to your system components.   This filter is cleanable and does not have to be replaced.
If you have questions about the suitability of your torque converter or gear ratios, contact Customer Support: Call 832-274-8821 Today !!!
Your nitrous bottle should be turned off when not in use, even between rounds.
Never use Teflon tape an any nitrous system fittings.  Tape debris will cause numerous problems, ranging from fouled solenoids to blocked jets.  Use a thread sealer such as, Permatex 14 or an equivalent Teflon based sealant.  Periodically check all fittings and connections for leaks.
Start with the lowest horsepower setting that comes with your system.  Don't try to be the track hero on your first pass.  Remember to start out small and work your way up; our systems produce more real horsepower and torque than any other brand on the market today!
If you must disassemble your solenoids for cleaning, always use the proper wrench (#15921).  Do not use vise grips or any other clamping device on the solenoid tower, instant irreparable damage will occur!! This will void your warranty!!!
When you use a 300+hp system, you must use the highest "motor" octane racing fuel available.  Very important note: Do not use fuel that has a specific gravity lower than .720!!!  Here are some tips to help you choose and maintain the correct fuel for your vehicle: a) The relevant number to look for when choosing a racing fuel is the "motor" octane number; the research number is inaccurate and easily manipulated. b) Never store your fuel in white fuel jugs, always choose a jug made from a dark material.  A steel "jerry" can is best.  c) Never leave your fuel sitting in direct sunlight, just a few minutes in the sun, even in a dark jug, will affect the octane rating.  d) Never leave the fuel in your race car between race days.  Always keep your fuel in an airtight container.  e) Do not buy racing fuel from a vented or underground tank.  Buy from a sealed drum only!!  WARNING!! Av-gas and nitrous are not compatible, instant engine damage is guaranteed!!!
All vehicles, including full competition race cars, must have an alternator to provide the proper amperage and voltage required by today's accessories.  Add up all amps required by all of the components on your car...you'll be surprised.  Contact Customer Support: Call 832-274-8821 Today !!!
If you notice some of the nitrous-fuel orifices are not perfectly aligned in your Nitrous Express plate system, do not be concerned.  This misalignment has been engineered into the system to direct the fuel to specific cylinders.

In conclusion...

These power tuning tips are valid for Nitrous Express nitrous systems only!  If you have a kit from another manufacturer, this information will not help you!  A tune-up from any other brand nitrous kit will NOT work with our "Next Generation Technology"
