Our Street/Strip D.U.I. Distributors are custom-calibrated for your particular application. Every unit is curved on a distributor machine, blueprinted and precision built. All of the OEM and aftermarket manufacturers make distributors on a mass production basis, so at best, your vehicle has a middle-ground, compromise curve. At Performance Distributors we take all of your engine's specifications into consideration in order to provide you with the optimum advance curve. A super smooth curve will eliminate engine damaging detonation and give you the most efficient combustion possible. Light throttle ping is eliminated by the use of our special vacuum advances, factory calibrated just for your application. An adjustable vacuum advance will not be needed!

Our D.U.I.'s are superior to point type units because they are virtually maintenance free, can handle more voltage and last much longer. They are also better and more practical than magnetos. Our D.U.I. distributors send twice as much fire into the combustion chambers than a magneto because they allow twice as big a plug gap to be run. Spark plugs stay cleaner longer. This is a true "blueprinted" ignition system using only brand new parts. All of the moving parts in the advance system are hand-fitted to assure the smoothest advance curve possible. The distributor caps are offered in blue, red, yellow, clear or black and have solid brass terminals and contain the D.U.I. coil. The Dyna-Module, which has more electronic dwell in it over a stock module, is also included. Most roller cam applications require a bronze gear which is additional. This unit can be used with most street blowers with room to spare.

The Racing D.U.I. Distributor is capable of 9000 RPM's. That's almost double the output of a stock H.E.I.! This is the only magnetic, 9000 RPM, self-contained (internal coil and module) distributor available. It's an easy drop in installation. No other parts are necessary. The Racing D.U.I. Coil and Dyna-Module are inside the distributor. No spark box is necessary!

The Racing D.U.I. only draws 2 to 3 amps off of the battery, whereas spark box and point type systems drain 10 amps or more. The Racing D.U.I. Coil and the Dyna Module produce a long duration spark allowing plug gaps to be open up to .050"-.055". Magneto ignitions can only run .015"-.025" plug gap.

As you can see, the Racing D.U.I. sends twice as much fire into the combustion chamber than a magneto. Horsepower is gained because more fuel is burned on each piston stroke. Spark plugs stay cleaner longer. The Racing D.U.I. makes point systems obsolete. You won't waste time and money changing points for every race and you'll get more voltage into your system than points can handle.

The advance system is curved to give you better throttle response and more power. All of the moving parts are hand fitted to assure the smoothest advance curve possible. The weights are fabricated from very high quality hardened steel which are virtually maintenance free. You'll be able to run more timing (without detonation) than ever before. There is no excess advance at high RPM's as with other H.E.I.'s due to a unique mechanical advance system developed exclusively by Performance Distributors. Available with or without vacuum advance, the unit includes a brass terminal cap, available in bright blue, black, red, yellow and clear.

The Racing D.U.I. Coil is designed to run cooler than all other coils including oil-filled coils. Our new "no-resistance" rotor bushing carries all of the firepower from the coil to the rotor. The units wider distributor cap terminal spacing eliminates cross fire which occurs in smaller diameter caps. Our rotor prevents "burn-thru" from the extremely high voltage. Nylon rotor hold-down screws help prevent misfire at high RPM's.

 

Stock Appearing "Stealth" version now available for those who want a totally stock appearing ignition. The Stealth version is built with a black distributor cap, unpolished housing and no decals for that "bone stock" HEI look. When placing your order, add an "S" in front of the part number to make your Racing DUI Distributor totally Stealth!

Performance Distributors is now offering the Racing D.U.I. Distributor with the Instant Timing Knob. The new Instant Timing Knob allows for timing adjustments to be made to the engine quickly and easily without the use of a timing light. Once the total timing is dialed into the engine, fine tuning can be accomplished with a simple turn of the knob. The knob is marked and can be locked into position so that you do not lose your adjustment due to vibration. If your engine needs 1 degree less timing, simply turn the adjustment knob 1/2 turn clockwise. Turn the knob one full turn to retard 2 degrees. If the engine could stand more timing, rotate the knob counterclockwise for advanced timing. This device can allow your mechanic to tune the motor in between races without burning hands and having to fumble with hooking up the timing light. The instant timing knob is sold installed on the distributor only and is not available separately.

Performance Distributors now offers a small diameter high performance electronic ignition system for Chevrolet engines that do not have the clearance for a D.U.I. Due to the large size of the DUI, it will not fit applications utilizing a blower, tunnel ram or where the engine is too close to the firewall. This put our engineers to work using a smaller diameter distributor. The results were the new Tri-Power Ignition System. The Tri-Power ignition system features our Dyna Mod (HEI style module) mounted externally to a remanufactured Chevrolet points style distributor housing. The system also includes our high voltage "Inferno" coil which is mounted externally from the distributor. The Inferno coil allows spark plug gaps to be opened to an incredible .055". Each Tri-Power distributor is custom tuned on a distributor machine based on your cam duration & lift, compression ratio, octane of fuel and vehicle weight. A super smooth advance curve will eliminate engine damaging detonation, provide instant throttle response and produce maximum power throughout your entire rpm range. With the combination of the Inferno coil and Dyna Mod module, you will notice quicker starting, smoother idle and more horsepower up to 8500 rpms!. The new Tri-Power ignition system is also available for other GM applications. If you have a computer-controlled engine, this is the replacement distributor you need. All new parts are used to insure durability and performance. The brass terminal cap and rotor provide maximum conductivity. Nylon rotor hold down screws are used to prevent high rpm misfires.
This distributor is available in the one-piece version, with the 7 pin Dyna-Module and 50,000 volt Street/Strip DUI coil built inside the distributor (1981-1991 Chevy V8). Both the L-clamp style cap and the screw down cap style are available. The distributor is also available for 1987-Present GM V8's which have the 8 pin Dyna-Module built inside the distributor and takes a remote mounted coil-preferably our Screamin' Demon Coil (Screamin' Demon Coil must be ordered separately-not included in price of distributor). This unit is easy to install, plugging directly into your factory wiring.
These computer distributors are polished for a high tech appearance. Each unit comes with oil impregnated brass bushings and are lubed for long lasting life. These distributors are also shimmed for proper end-play clearance to assure maximum magnetic pick-up coil inductance.
