Don't Let This Happen To You! ((( Picture above was a FORD Motorsport " A4 Block " ))) Tests have proven that V-8 blocks twist under load. Regardless of engine location, mounts or mounting plates, the twisting of the block leads to the block cracking in half.
The engine in the picture above was 331cid. Small Block Ford. When it broke the engine lost oil pressure from the cam bearings spinning out of the block. Then the pistons pinched and scored in the twisting, while the rods were turning and the bearings had no oil pressure. The rods bent. In Short: The crank needed to be turned to be reused. The cam was bad from no oil and riding on the casting of the block (when the bearings spun). The heads needed to be resurfaced, because the deck was twisted. The intake manifold was bent from the separation of the block. The block twisting bent the oil pan rails. The cost exceeded over $4500! Not to mention... THEY LOST THE RACE!!!
